Head on down to East Village, E20 on Friday 22nd July 2016 to take part in a very special Olympic Games-themed 'Ultimate Sports Day'. The event takes place on a day of celebration for the former Athletes' Village, with the London Anniversary Games due to go ahead at neighbouring Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park that evening.
The afternoon of sporting activities will feature a selection of sessions suitable for all levels of fitness, including gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, athletics and rollapaluza cycling.
The classes will be hosted by Our Parks - an initiative bringing free exercise classes to parks across London - to launch their summer of sporting events taking place throughout August at East Village. The sessions aim to inspire both young people and adults alike to become active ahead of the Rio 2016 Games.
They will be joined by three-time world gymnastics champion and Olympic medalist Beth Tweddle MBE - one of the most well-known faces of the London 2012 British Olympics team who won the hearts of the public during the games. Beth will be returning to East Village where, as the Athlete's Village, she stayed during the Games four years ago, to see how the legacy of the Olympics and Paralympics is being kept alive.
Joining Beth will be the E20 Champions, a group of promising young athletes backed by Get Living London through SportsAid, the charity providing financial support and recognition to young British sports stars since 1976, as they train for the 2020 Tokyo Games and beyond. The rising stars will be taking part in classes and encouraging their peers to get involved.

Beth Tweddle said: "I can't wait to attend the 'Ultimate Sports Day' at East Village on 22nd July. It's great to see that four years on from the London 2012 Games, the area is still committed to preserving the legacy of the Olympics and encouraging this generation and the next to enjoy being more active and taking part in sporting activities. Being an athlete is a really rewarding career, but it's important for all young people to start learning how to live active healthy lives now, no matter what their aspirations are".
Neil Young, CEO of Get Living London, who rent and manage homes at East Village, said: "Encouraging well-being and participation in sports and fitness has been key for us since we welcomed our first residents to the former Athlete's Village back in 2013, so we are delighted to be putting on this event in association with Our Parks and SportsAid. We're really proud to show that East Village has the green space to foster all kinds of sporting activity, and access to the fantastic legacy venues all around us."
